What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol is an open and universal protocol that standardizes how applications provide context to large language models (LLMs). Its role is analogous to HTTP on the web, but in this case, it allows AI agents to connect to different data sources and digital tools in a coherent and organized way.

This enriches model knowledge, controls their behavior, and tailors their responses to specific contexts.

For example, it can integrate with proprietary databases, personalize virtual assistants, or improve accuracy in specialized environments. It also enables an assistant to remember past conversations, an industrial system to react in time to a failure, or a platform to combine different services to provide a comprehensive answer.
